Growth prospects

control884

As the market anxiously waits for the the inflation report today, the IMF has published a study on the growth prospects of 195 countries in the world. As you can see in the chart below, almost all the countries in the study, will have positive gdp growth this year an next one. What is also interesting is that this hasn’t happened ever in the 45 years the study has been published. On average, there are about 15% of the world’s nations with negative real gdp, but today, looking into the near future, it appears that the world will grow in unison. Since there is a cyclical nature on economic growth, we should expect this bonanza to turn negative at some point. Is 2025 a turning point for economic growth? Can the world grow together in an environment where there are traditional wars, trade wars and tech wars happening at the same time? Is this a zero sum game? How much of this growth has been fueled by debt? And is it sustainable?
