Conflicting forces

As the #fed is trying to fight inflation by raising interest rates and reducing its balance sheet, the US government has put in place fiscal programs, such as the Chips and Science Act and the Inflation Reduction Act. Over the next 8 years, the US will spend $80Bn a year in these programs. Part of that money, will help increasing productivity and create jobs, but it’s not clear if that will help abating inflation in the short term, which is priority one these days.
